Day 10 - Hong Kong

Last day in the land of Asia! We are tired of people and ready to come home!!

We did a walking tour today from 9-3pm. It was the worst tour we have ever taken in our life. Our tour guide was horrific beyond belief. We have never met anyone that walked so slow in our entire life. We literally kept tripping over our feet because she was walking so slow. She would take two baby steps, stop, tell us a story about something, meanwhile blocking the entire sidewalk. It was just bad. And it was hotter than the dickens today. A heat index of over 100 degrees. We were a sweaty mess. Luckily we took some trains so we could cool off for a bit. There are so many people here and they are the rudest people. They literally will walk right into you on the sidewalk. It is just their culture. We have a sincere new appreciate for the Japanese. They are orderly, structured, polite, kind, etc. Its literally the complete opposite here in Hong Kong. We will never come back here, and won't rush to China anytime soon. But both of us said we would go back to Japan anytime. We both really enjoyed Japan and their culture.

After our tour we came back to hotel to freshen up and then headed to Victoria Peak. Its a mountain that overlooks the city. We got up there right as sunset, although there was no sunset because it was too hazy. Then stayed up there until it was dark. Very cool views with about 4.5 million people. The amount of people was overwhelming. Finally got back to hotel around 10pm after waiting for about 30 minutes for a bus to take us back to the city.

So glad to be leaving Hong Kong and heading back to the US! We are glad we got to experience Hong Kong but way too many people (I know I said this a lot this trip, but today was the worst we have ever experienced).

Tomorrow we head for home! We have a direct flight from Hong Kong to Chicago. Then a quick flight home. Been an amazing trip and we got to learn so much about the Japanese Culture :)

Km walked: 26.9 km

 Hong Kong Park
Streets we walked around on our tour.
A temple we visited. Incense were big at this particular temple.
Streets we walked around on our tour.
A Buddhist Nunnery we visited.
Chinese Garden. Love the high rises in the back. People live in apartments here - they are all like identical high rises.

Markets everywhere here. There was a flower market that went on forever. Erv - you would have been in heaven!
 More from the flower market.
I can hardly type about this. It was a bird market - no lie. It made me so nauseous. Birds everywhere in cages, bird food, live crickets, etc. Ugh, it was so disgusting. Kevin says, this is where the bird flu starts - ground zero.
I thought the bird market was bad... until we got here. A 'wet market' as the call it. Literally, they were butchering up meat and hanging raw meat. This is outside like on a sidewalk. There were blocks and block of this. Ohh it was so nasty.
Hong Kong City view from a ferry we took back to the island our hotel was on. Very hot and hazy again today.
Another view of city. This city is growing so fast there is literally construction everywhere. They are reclaiming land from the ocean.
A view from Victoria's Peak at night.
With our tickets to Victoria's Peak, we got passes to the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. It was a never ending nightmare. Asians taking selfies with all these wax figures with selfie sticks. Yao Ming and Kevin in this photo.
As we were waiting in line for Victorias Peak, Kevin goes to me "you feel tall?" Ohhh it was the funniest thing ever. I had to take a photo. Literally, this was the line, we were the only non-Asian in line and both of us were taller than everyone else. We felt like giants :) This photo just makes me laugh.
