Day 1 - Los Angeles

We made it to LA Thursday morning around 9:30am. Pretty uneventful morning and flights which is always nice. We drove to The Getty from the airport which is an art museum and has outside gardens. It was so beautiful and the structures were just amazing. It was free to get in too which is nice. Kevin and I are not art people but this place was absolutely amazing. We wandered around for a few hours and then headed to Universal Studios Hollywood next.

We decided to do a VIP tour of Universal Studios. You pay for a guide to take you around and you get front of the line passes and a personalized studio tour. It was so cool to see all the stuff. Universal Studios has the city walk and then rides that are all themed. Like Despicable Me, Terminator, Simpsons, Shrek, The Mummy, Jurassic Park. We went on all those rides - some were 3D, some were mini roller coasters. The wait times for some of these rides were over 2 hours for most of the day, I have no idea why/how people wait that long. We zipped right by them and got plenty of stares. Then we had an amazing buffet lunch, included with the VIP. We next headed to the Studio tours, which was my favorite part. We got to see the actual set of the Voice, we couldn't take photos in there through. We got to see the streets that are like blank buildings and movies/TV shows come and rent them out and put up trees and paint them to match their own set. They have a Europe Set, NY set, etc. That absolutely amazed me that they use the same set for multiple things. We got to see Wisteria ane from Desperate Housewives, War of Worlds actual crash site, How the Grinch Stole Christmas set, Bates Motel setWe got to see the prop department which is like a huge warehouse and movies/TV shows come in a rent out things like chairs. Super cool day and got to see tons. By the end of the day we were so sick of people and crowds, I have never seen so many people. We got back to hotel and crashed! Busy and fun filled day but we enjoyed both things we did. Universal was just amazing - the only way to describe it. The do an amazing job there.
